Meditations began simply as a collection of photographs that I loved.
Verging on the abstract, an overriding connection
of relative simplicity and a quiet nature defined the series from early on,
and I began thinking of them as visual prayers, offerings, or koans.
Some of the photographs invite an intimacy,
while others offer up vast spaces, and a natural pattern surfaces through them all.
Each feels to me to be simultaneously a point of departure and of focus,
a moment of breath providing an opportunity to engage
both the personal and the universal.
